An app blocker that keeps a journal

Getting back in should take more than a tap.

A session starts with a question, what you mean to do, and ends on a page, what you did. The apps you chose stay out in between. The page takes a minute and a half, and it is the only way out.

Join the beta on TestFlight

It opens in Apple’s TestFlight app, which installs the beta and keeps it updated. It is an early build, and what you say shapes what comes next. Privacy

A session, not a setting.

You decide once, at the start, and after that the phone stops being a negotiation.

One block, set once

Choose the apps, categories and websites a session keeps out. Set it once and change it whenever you like. Add a schedule if you want the block to run by itself on certain days and hours.

It ends on a page

When you end, the app opens a page. It asks what the time gave you and gives you a minute and a half to write, or to write nothing at all. The page is the only way out of a session: not a Shortcut, not a widget, not a link.

Breaks that don’t end it

Step out for a set number of minutes and the session waits for you. Take the break in one go or split it up, and once the time is used, it’s used.

Hours you can spend

The hours you block add up. Name rewards and price them in hours, like a long lunch or the good coffee, or in days in a row, like a day off the desk.

A Pomodoro timer, built in

Work for 25 minutes, rest for 5, and take a longer break after 4 rounds. Your apps stay blocked the whole time, because the break is from the work, not from the block.

A journal of every session

Every session is in the journal, on a calendar. Tap a day to see its sessions: what you set out to do, what you wrote, how long it held.

Hard to get out of.

Never a trap.

A blocker that can’t be escaped is a phone you can’t use in an emergency. Tavla Block always keeps a way out and counts it, so leaving early stays a deliberate choice you can see, rather than an impossible one or a free one. And Tavla is not against screens. It is against the feed, the scroll, and the hour you didn’t mean to spend.

Roadmap

Where this is going

The beta is the start. Here is what comes next, in roughly this order.

  1. Now

    Public beta

Open on TestFlight. This is the stage for feedback, while the work on what makes it better goes on.

  2. Next

    App Store launch

The first official release, free for everyone. No sign-in required, and no ads, ever, on the free version.

  3. After launch

Sign in, and keep it all

Without an account everything stays on your phone, and leaves with it. Sign in when you want your journal, your hours and your rewards saved to the cloud, so they follow you to a new phone.

  4. In a few months

    An accountability partner

A person you choose who holds your sessions with you, so ending one early is something someone sees. The first part of Tavla Plus.

  5. Later

    More Tavla

More apps under the Tavla name, growing into a set of tools for focus and a calmer everyday.

  6. Later still

    Android

Only once everything has been proven with iPhone users first.
