This page explains what Tavla collects through the Tavla Block app and this website, why, and what your choices are. Tavla is at an early stage. As the product grows, for example when accounts and sync arrive, what we collect will change, and this page will change with it. The date above tells you when it was last revised.

What stays on your phone

Almost everything. The apps and sites you block, your session history, your rewards, and anything you write on the page that ends a session are stored on the device by the app itself. None of it is sent anywhere, and there is no account to send it to. Nobody at Tavla can read it, and neither can anyone else with the phone locked.

You can take it with you: Settings → Export the journal writes your sessions, including what you wrote, to a CSV file that goes wherever you send it.

Deleting the app deletes all of it. One thing survives on purpose: a small count of how many emergency exits you have used, kept in the iOS Keychain so that deleting and reinstalling the app does not hand back a fresh set. It is a number and a date, it stays on that one phone, it is not backed up to iCloud, and it is not linked to you.

What the app collects

Tavla Block uses Apple’s Screen Time framework to block apps. Apple designed it so that the app itself does not learn which apps you use; it only knows that a session is running and when it ends.

The app counts how it is used so we can see which features are found and which are not. An event looks like “a session started”, “a session ended, 15–30 minutes, goal met”, or “the block screen was shown”. Durations are rounded into broad ranges. Today these counts are anonymous: there is no account, no user ID, and they do not include the apps you block, profile names, your name, email, contacts, location, or advertising identifier.

These counts are processed by Aptabase, an analytics service on servers in the European Union, acting on Tavla’s behalf. In App Store terms this is “Product Interaction” usage data, not linked to you. Along with each count, the analytics library sends the app version, iOS version, device model and language, and a random session number that changes after the app has been closed for a while; none of these identify you. You can switch the counts off in the app, under Settings → Analytics.

Cookies and website analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It runs only if you allow it in the banner shown on your first visit; until then nothing from Google is loaded and no analytics cookie is set. Your choice, and the time you made it, is kept in your own browser so we do not ask again. You can change it any time from the “Cookies” link in the footer.

When allowed, Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga and _ga_*, kept for up to two years) to tell returning visits from new ones, and reports pages viewed, the approximate region, and the device and browser type. Google LLC processes this on Tavla’s behalf under its data processing terms, and IP addresses are not stored. We do not currently use it for advertising, and we do not use other tracking tools such as session recording or advertising pixels. If that changes, this page and the consent banner will say so.

The site also keeps two small settings in your browser that are not cookies and are never sent anywhere: your theme (light or dark) and your language.

What the newsletter collects

• Your email address.
• Your consent to receive Tavla updates, and the time you gave it.
• Which page the signup came from.

The email is used to send occasional updates about Tavla: the launch, and how it is being built. It is kept until you unsubscribe or ask for it to be deleted. Email is stored and sent through Resend, the email provider, acting on Tavla’s behalf.

Who we share data with

Only the providers named above (Aptabase, Google Analytics, Resend), each acting on Tavla’s instructions. We do not sell personal data.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe any time from the link in any email.
• Cookies: allow or decline analytics from the banner, or later from the “Cookies” link in the footer.
• Usage counts in the app: switch them off under Settings → Analytics. Nothing is sent from then on.
• What the app holds: take a copy from Settings → Export sessions, or delete all of it by deleting the app. Nothing has to be asked for, because none of it left the phone.
• Request access to, or deletion of, anything held off your phone — a newsletter address — by writing to team@tavlahq.com.
